Tendon bending at the Grip, combined with platform sway or surge, increases the risk of wear on the chain link.
In ordinal mooring chain, adjacent links make a point contact.
When a link moves under tension, wear occurs at the point of contact.
A link of Pin Joint Chain has TWO axis. It makes a line contact and the risk of wear is very low.
Each link is twisted by 90 degrees and connected by a pin.
Pin Joint Chain can be bent in two (2) directions, but it cannot be twisted.
1. Motion in radial direction
2. Motion in axial direction
Side wall transmits the mooring force to Grip.
